COVID Health & Safety
Updated June 23, 2020

Vitality is Back in Business as of Monday, June 1st!

We are looking forward to working with everyone, including and especially all first responders and frontline workers who come to us for your health and wellness needs. As you are aware, things are not "business as usual" anywhere right now and Vitality is no different.

A quick summary of changes:

Details of the following in full below. Subject to change without notice. Please check our website regularly for updates.

  • ONLINE BOOKING
Some practitioners already have their online booking open; soon everyone will. Consult schedules via JaneApp for specifics.
  • PRE-SCREENING
You will receive an email or phone call the day before your appointment asking you to complete our mandatory COVID-19 self-check. The same pre-screening questions will be asked upon your arrival. All clinic staff complete the same self-check before each shift.
  • MASKS / PPE
For everyone's safety, all therapists will be wearing masks and we ask all of you to wear one too. If you forget, we have disposables or cloth masks for sale. Special consideration will be made for patients with contraindications to wearing masks.
  • HAND HYGIENE & SAFETY PROTOCOLS
As soon as you enter our suite, please wash your hands for 20-30 seconds and wash them again before you leave.
  • LIABILITY WAIVER & CONSENT
  • PAYMENT OPTIONS
Debit, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and eTransfers are all accepted. No cash or cheques please.
  • FEE INCREASE JULY 1
Due to the additional cost of PPE and cleaning products, as well as the extra time we need to disinfect our clinic between patients, we will be slightly raising our fees. As of July 1st massage therapy, acupuncture and athletic therapy treatments will increase by $5.00.

We thank you in advance for your adherence to these new protocols. Everything we are doing is for everyone's safety and comfort while in our care. We take our work very seriously and it is so important that you feel not only welcome, but also safe when at our clinic.

We encourage anyone who is signed up through JaneApp to check their subscription settings and re-subscribe themselves to receive our email newsletters with COVID updates.

We are excited to see you in person with a smile behind our masks.

Sincerely,
The entire Vitality Team

Online BOOKING:

Some practitioners already have their online booking open; soon everyone will. Consult schedules via JaneApp for specifics.

PRE-SCREENING:

You will receive an email or phone call the day before your appointment asking you to complete our mandatory COVID-19 self-check. The same pre-screening questions will be asked again upon your arrival.

If you do not answer the phone, we will leave a message reminding you to take the BC Self Assessment Tool and to review our safety measures on our website. If you answer yes to any of the Self Assessment questions, please call to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Late cancellation fees will be waived for any COVID-19 related illness or if you find out you have been in contact with anyone who has COVID-19 symptoms or related symptoms. This is for your safety as well as ours.

All clinic staff complete the same self-check using the same assessment tool, as well as taking their temperature, before each shift.

MASKS / PPE:

For everyone's safety, all therapists will be wearing masks and we ask all of you to wear one too. If you wear your own cloth or disposable mask, please ensure it is fresh and clean. If you forget, we have disposable ($2) or cloth masks for sale. Special consideration will be made for patients with contraindications to wearing masks. We appreciate your cooperation.

HAND HYGIENE & SAFETY PROTOCOLS:

Please arrive just before your appointment. If you are early, please wait outside. All doors in the stairwell will be left open to provide a touch-less trip up to the 3rd floor. The elevator will be cleaned and sanitized as frequently as possible.

As soon as you enter our clinic, please wash your hands with soap and warm water for at least 20-30 seconds. Please leave the door open unless you need to use the facilities. And please wash your hands again before you leave.

Your therapist will again go through that checklist with you to ensure it is safe to continue with your treatment.

Safety protocols being utilized are posted throughout the clinic. Everything is transparent for you to feel comfortable and know that we are taking this very seriously and are implementing many precautions and sanitization protocols every day.

LIABILITY WAIVER & CONSENT:

You will be asked to sign a liability waiver and consent to treatment at your first appointment after our re-opening.

Although we are following all requirements for our clinic setting, no-one can 100% guarantee that the virus is not present or being transmitted. We want all parties to understand that there is an inherent risk present with the close contact that we have with our patients and that it is your decision to proceed with any treatment with the full understanding that we are following all requirements as per the Provincial Health Officer as well as our respective governing Colleges. As soon as possible we will be posting on our website a list of safety protocols for your review.

PAYMENT Options:

All our payment options are contactless. Debit, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and eTransfers are all accepted. Cash and cheques are no longer be accepted.

We will ask you to either fill out an online, secure payment form for your credit card information or verbally give us that information to input at the time of your booking. This information will be encrypted and saved in your secure, digital file. From that point forward, any payments that are not covered by an extended health care plan will be processed within 24 hours of your treatment. If you would prefer to pay with a debit card, we will have a terminal that allows tap payments only. All receipts will be emailed to you.

On Wednesday, May 6th we received some good news! We are waiting for these guidelines to be published. As soon as we know when we can reopen, we will update our website and send a newsletter.

The Vitality team would like to say big thank you to hospital workers, grocery store clerks and all other essential workers, who continue to keep our community safe, healthy and fully stocked with food and other necessary supplies. We hope you and your loved ones remain healthy and safe, staying home as much as possible.

Vitality remains closed and all appointments in May, until June 1, have been cancelled.

We are awaiting the go-ahead from Dr. Bonnie Henry, Health Minister Adrian Dix and our regulatory Colleges of BC to let us know when the time is right to reopen. Therefore, we continue to suspend in-person treatments until the number of cases continues to be low and it is the right time to return. We feel strongly that the physical distancing measures are in the best interest for you, our practitioners and our community. Of course we miss seeing all of you!

We will offer further information closer to re-opening, about when we can open our doors and what clinic protocols will be in place to respect the health and safety for our clients, therapists, and community. We will update you again here, via email newsletters and on our online booking system. As soon as we know, you will know!

We look forward to supporting you as we find our way through these next few months together as a community and a clinic. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work together to care for each other during this unprecedented time.

For more information please see this article posted in The Vancouver Sun on April 27, 2020: COVID-19: No registered massage therapists until at least June, says college.

Thank you!

The Vitality team would like to say big thank you to hospital workers, grocery store clerks and all other essential workers who are on the frontlines during this difficult time to keep our community safe, healthy and fully stocked with food and other necessary supplies.

We hope everyone is remaining safe and healthy. We feel that closely following the directions from our public health officials about physical distancing is the best way. Therefore, Vitality Treatment Centre will remain closed until at least April 30 and has suspended online booking indefinitely for all our therapists. We will reopen when our public health officials state that in-person treatments can resume. We will keep you informed here and via emailed newsletters.

Thank you!

Mar 18, 2020

We hope you are all doing well and staying healthy.

The Vitality team has decided to close until at least March 31 and will reassess the situation around COVID-19 before reopening our doors. We want to do the best we can for our community and patients and we think this is our healthiest course of action at this time. It is important to us to make an effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. This is for your safety as well as ours.

If you would like to go on our waitlist for when we reopen, please press the Book Online button and click the waitlist button and follow instructions. Or you can leave a message on our voice mail. We will call you to set up an appointment as soon as we are able to return to our normal business operations.

Thank you for for your understanding and trusting us with your care. We are monitoring updates and advisories by our provincial and federal government agencies and will do our best to keep you informed of our response via our website and online booking.
